# Introducing Virto Tab Navigation: Group SharePoint Web Parts into Named Tabs

We’re launching [Virto Tab Navigation](https://www.virtosoftware.com/sharepoint/tab-navigation-web-part/), a web part for SharePoint Server Subscription Edition that groups the web parts on a page into named tabs. Instead of scrolling past calendars, lists, reports, and Active Directory tools to find the one they need, users open the tab that holds it.

## Why a long page slows people down

A single SharePoint page can easily hold 20 or more web parts. Placed one under another, they turn the page into a long scroll, and every visit starts with a search for the right web part. Splitting the content across several pages doesn’t help much either: it scatters things that belong together and leaves you with more navigation to maintain.

Virto Tab Navigation keeps everything on one page and puts related web parts on separate tabs with names you choose. The page stays short, and users see at a glance where each piece of content is.

## How it works

Add Virto Tab Navigation to the page that already holds your web parts, then open its **Tabs Settings** panel:

-   **Create a tab and name it** after what it holds, such as “File operations” or “AD users”, so users know what’s inside before they click.
-   **Choose its web parts**, from the same web part zone or from the whole page. A tab can hold one web part or several.
-   **Drag the tabs into order** and click **Save**. Tab changes reach the page only then, so you can prepare several at once.

When the page isn’t in edit mode, visitors see one tab at a time: the web parts on the other tabs stay hidden until their tab is opened. The first tab, **Default tab**, is created for you as soon as you add the web part.

## What you get

-   **Classic and modern pages.** One package installs a classic web part for classic pages and a modern web part for modern pages.
-   **One settings panel for all tabs**, with drag-and-drop tab order and inline create, edit, and delete.
-   **Several tab sets on one page.** Each Virto Tab Navigation web part on a page keeps its own tabs.
-   **SharePoint stays in charge of access.** Virto Tab Navigation has no permission settings of its own: users see the page and the web parts on its tabs according to their SharePoint permissions.

## Availability and pricing

Virto Tab Navigation 2.2.1 is available now for SharePoint Server Subscription Edition at **$99 per WFE per year**. A version for SharePoint Server 2019 will be available shortly.
